Postcards

Cincinnati was a lot of fun for a night out. Great Bistro dinner. As we walked through downtown, I couldn’t resist these lights.

Driving 70 West through the heartland can be a bit tedious. Thus, we stopped a lot! No, we didn’t actually eat at this spot, but the name and neon was enough to make me wish we had.

Had to do the tourist thing at the St. Louis Arch. That tiny speck is me in the foreground.

The road stretched forever. I was groggy. RG Daughter was sound asleep. Suddenly, the billboards announcing Nostalgiaville USA were everywhere. I roused RG Daughter and we counted down the miles. Yeah we had to stop!

Friday’s lineup includes views of Lawrence, Kansas (a very fun town), and a photo tour of a museum and a hall of fame–the names of which shall remain a surprise.

Until tomorrow….

Yay, Lawrence!! I’m looking forward to your post…more than usual, that is. 🙂 I’m dying to know if you ate here, and if so, which restaurant you chose! 🙂

Too fun. If you were on I-90, you would have seen signs for the Spam Museum in Minnesota. On a road trip last summer, we had to stop. The museum wasn’t open yet, but we had fun in the Spam Store.

Sounds like you’re having a wonderful adventure.

And, yes, the road does stretch forever in the Plains. it’s beautiful, but gets monotonous after a while.

Amy–We are here and planning to wander the campus before heading out. This is a wonderful college town.

T–We already drove through Kansas City! Wish we had known. But I will save the name of the BBQ place for a future stop in 250 years or whenever I decide to drive this far again!

Junior–We only just decided Thursday morning that we would make this our place to stop Thursday night. Are you based here in Lawrence, or do you play in other places?

Kim–Thanks! I have thought about your wistful comment to go on a road trip. Get over here and share the driving!

Julie–So funny to see these museums. I used to write about the grand openings of places like the Spam Museum for the travel mag, two lifetimes ago (we depended on press releases and phone iterviews due to $$). Now I can actually stop and see for real what I wrote about!
